Obtaining certification requires time, money, and hard work. In order for certifications to be respected, they must represent effort on your part. Although there are many to select from, the basic steps to being certified are the same. The following steps below will help you find the training and certification program that fits you. needs, and sign up for your certification program today!

1. Decide Which Certification Program is Right for You.

People are not sure which certification(s) they should complete. Take your time and study all the different NDFHA Certification programs available. If you still have questions and need additional guidance the NDFHA support team is happy to assist you in the decision making process.

2. Evaluate The Certification Program And Examination Requirements.

Once you decided which NDFHA Certification program you will to pursue, understand what is expected of you in order to complete the program. 

3. Proceed to Order Your Certification Program.

You may order your certification program(s) through the NDFHA secure online store, or call NDFHA at (302) 475-6472

4. Study and Practice.

It is now up to you to read and study the manual, and practice your teaching skills. NDFHA provides questions for you to research and answer. 5. Stay Certified.

Once you have passed your test workshop, review the re-certification procedures to find out what the requirements are for continuing education credits.


Certification Workshop Requirements

• Paper-and-pencil exams take about 4-6 weeks to receive your results 

• Must be at least 18 years of age

• Must hold a current, government-issued photo I.D.

• Proof of current CPR/AED is required to receive exam results. 

  Online CPR/AED is not accepted.

• There are limited numbers of testing locations

• Must register at least 30 days prior to exam

• May register either online (preferred) or by phone

• Although you will be able to select a city and state for your exam, 

  detailed location information will not be available until 21 days prior to exam

Annual Conference and Exhibition

NDFHA’s annual conference and exhibition will consist of presentations and discussions; accompanied with trade show products and entertainment. NDFHA will accommodate keynote speakers, instructors, educators, panel, and roundtable discussions. The conference and exhibition will take place annually during the month of August and will offer members a forum to express yearly concerns, recommendations, and ideas.
